Asset Tracing
Researching asset indicators, ownership structures, and public records to support legal review and informed next-step decisions.
Before legal or enforcement action is considered, it is important to understand which asset-related indicators can be documented from lawful sources. Asset tracing research helps assess property indicators, company links, ownership structures, vehicles, and financial context where information is available.
NCRB works with specialized partners where a case requires deeper financial intelligence or jurisdiction-specific research. This approach combines digital investigation with careful source documentation and realistic scope boundaries.
Our investigations support law firms, creditors, individuals involved in divorce or inheritance disputes, and insurers evaluating subrogation potential. NCRB provides intelligence, documentation, and reporting; we do not guarantee asset discovery, enforcement, or recovery outcomes.
Asset tracing is used where assets may have been concealed or moved: divorce and inheritance matters, insolvency, and fraud cases. For an unpaid claim and the question whether attachment or enforcement is worthwhile, see our separate recovery research service.

Questions about this service
What is asset tracing?
Asset tracing maps the assets of a person or company factually: real estate, business interests and corporate structures, vehicles, receivables, crypto holdings, and other asset indicators from public and lawfully accessible sources. NCRB conducts this research as a licensed Dutch agency (POB 1737), for example where assets are suspected to be concealed in a divorce, insolvency or fraud case. For an unpaid claim and the question whether attachment is worthwhile, see recovery research.
When is asset tracing useful?
When concealed assets are suspected in a divorce or inheritance, when an insolvency practitioner maps a director or related party, when money has been moved in a fraud case, or to assess whether a settlement is realistic given the other party's asset position.
Which sources does NCRB use for asset research?
The Dutch land registry, the Chamber of Commerce and annual accounts, UBO information where accessible, vehicle registers, case law and insolvency registers, domain and company data, social media, archived web content, and, for crypto, the blockchain. All lawful; we have no access to bank data and never pretend otherwise.
Does NCRB conduct international asset tracing?
Yes. Many files have a cross-border element: foreign companies, property in Belgium, Spain, or Dubai, or crypto assets. We research in multiple countries and jurisdictions and are honest about where public sources are limited.
Can the report be used in divorce, insolvency or fraud proceedings?
Yes. You receive a report with source references and a confidence rating per finding, structured for use by your lawyer, insolvency practitioner or accountant. We report facts and indicators; what you do with them remains a legal assessment.
What does asset tracing cost and how fast is it delivered?
A first indicative picture (Netherlands, natural person) is often possible within a few working days. A full report covering corporate structures and foreign jurisdictions usually takes one to three weeks. The first conversation and a short feasibility check are free; after the intake you receive a fixed scope and price, and we say honestly when research is not proportionate to the interest.
