Insurance Claims Investigation
Digital fact-finding in open sources for injury, disability, motor, property and commercial claims when a claim raises questions.
When a claim raises questions, you need facts, not impressions. NCRB conducts digital fact-finding in open sources for insurers: online activity and circumstances, business connections and money flows, set against what was reported. Targeted and time-bound, never continuous monitoring.
The process is straightforward. We receive the investigative question and the reported facts or limitations, never medical records. We identify the subject across public platforms and registers and document what is publicly visible and relevant, with source, date and time. The result is an objective, evidence-based report. We present facts. The insurer makes the determination.
Our reports are structured for your own determination: what was found, where, when and how it was preserved, and what was not found. No opinion on the claim, no recommendation.
We handle both individual files and claim portfolios, for insurers in the Netherlands and abroad. European files are handled fully under the GDPR; the claims determination stays with you.

Questions about this service
What is an insurance investigation and when does an insurer use it?
An insurance investigation (in the Netherlands also called "toedrachtonderzoek" or personal investigation) establishes the facts around a claim when there is reasonable doubt: personal injury, disability, staged accidents, or contradictory statements. NCRB conducts these investigations as a licensed agency (POB 1737) for insurers, underwriting agents, and injury lawyers.
Is an insurer allowed to commission social media research on a claimant?
Yes, within the GDPR and the principles for personal investigations that insurers apply. There must be a reasonable suspicion, the investigation must be proportionate and subsidiary, and it must be documented. NCRB researches only publicly visible activity and records the assessment per file.
What does NCRB investigate in a personal injury or disability claim?
Public activity relevant to the stated limitations: sports, work, travel, side activities, and timelines on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. We document factually, with timestamp and source. The assessment of the claim remains with your claims team or medical adviser.
Can the report be used in a dispute or legal proceedings?
Yes. The report is objective, describes the method, and contains evidence with metadata so that it is built to hold up before the Dutch financial ombudsman (Kifid), in civil proceedings, or in a complaint. We draw no conclusions about fraud; we deliver the facts on which you and your lawyers base the assessment.
Does NCRB also investigate insurance fraud involving AI-generated evidence?
Yes. Edited photos, AI-generated injury images, and forged documents are increasingly common. We examine authenticity through metadata, image analysis, provenance, and consistency with other sources. Read our article on AI and insurance fraud for practical examples.
Does NCRB handle individual files or also portfolios?
Both. We handle single urgent files and structural flows for claims departments, with fixed turnaround times, a single point of contact, and reporting in your format. We work for Dutch and international insurers; for European files the process is fully GDPR-compliant.
